Floral Arrangement for the Rennie Collection [Video]

Posted November 25th, 2009 by Caley

A quick peek of the new private art gallery at the Wing Sang Building.

We were excited when one of our loyal customer’s stopped by the other day and gave us complete freedom to design something for this unique world class space.  It was a gift to Mr. Rennie who recently opened up his private gallery to the public by scheduled appointments Thursdays.

Mr. Rennie’s assistant was so nice and introduced us to the space which contained 800 year old restored wood. Originally two storeys, a third was added in 1901. In 1912, the original owner Yip added a six storey building in back, where he housed his large family – four wives and 23 children.

You can book your appointment to view the gallery and our floral arrangement by clicking the logo.

The #1 way to show your appreciation

Posted November 25th, 2009 by Caley

Did someone do something special for you or your company?

Follow this simple guide and rest assured you will make that person feel so appreciated! This morning, this gift showed up at our door and Amy and I were blown away.  It made our day and made us feel like a million bucks.

Thank you gift

1. Send them something they can enjoy.  Don’t mess about with a punch bowl or a crystal bunny.  The Fairmont Waterfront Vancouver sent us freshly baked cookies from their catering department. You can swap the cookies with flowers remember, because who wants to send a flower shop flowers?

2. Replace the following words Garden Party Team with the company or person’s name

Thank you letter from the Fairmont Waterfront

3. Make sure you add some personal touches and different coloured ink, works every time!

Thanks for showing us the way everybody at the Fairmont Waterfront, you have one of the best venues in Vancouver for events, weddings and meetings.

Amazing flickr photo’s of Vancouver and Olympic Venues

Posted November 22nd, 2009 by Caley

My favourite picture!

Vancouver 2010

With just over 80 days until the Olympics come to Vancouver, I can feel the buzz and excitement ramping up. I can’t believe I just spent 2 hours going through all these pictures of places I see everyday on my way to work and during my deliveries.

We will be OPEN during the duration of the Olympics and Paralympics Games, and it’s never too early to place an order or inquire about floral decorations for your special event.

I really like this blog post about our Olympic Village and how it compares to the other host cities’ Olympic Village, although it had some serious issues,  it makes for some great pictures.

Had So Much Fun at Beyond Pink!!

Last month, I met a lovely young women named Lydia at the Yoga studio where she worked part time while attending UBC’s Sauder School of Business.  When Lydia approached me about participating in this event, I had no idea what to expect.  I decided to be an exhibitor at Beyond Pink’s Connect Trade Show purely because Lydia was so passionate about this event and I really liked the idea of telling my story to other young women and give them the inspiration to follow their passion.

Once I arrived, I was so impressed at the organization, the table setup and the immediate warmness I felt from all the other exhibitors and participants.

There was so much going on, live twittering and blogging, very interesting and ambitious young volunteers making sure everything was going smoothly and cool neighbours in the tables around me to chat with.

For everybody who I didn’t get a chance to chat and share my story with, one of Beyond Pink’s awesome organizers helped me to film a chat I had with Claudine Lam of Sales Partners Worldwide.

I am looking forward to participating next year and I welcome everyone participating and attending to share YOUR story with me. I can’t wait to see your comments and if you aren’t comfortable sharing your story here, email me at amyhu@gardenpartyflowers.ca.

For those who didn’t get a chance to attend, you can find out more information on the Beyond Pink website and the live blog from Miss 604.

More photo’s from the event here!

Featured Local Grower: Oriental Orchids

Posted November 10th, 2009 by Caley

We love supporting local growers, lucky for us BC and the lower mainland has some of the world’s best!

This weekend we have a beautiful arrangement to design and our customer requested lots of cut white phalaenopsis orchids.  Amy and I always stick to one particular grower when we buy our flowers and orchids from the flower auction and today we wanted to put a face to the name. Oriental Orchid’s is a local grower with greenhouses in Burnaby, BC.  Their greenhouses were so clean and the environment was so beautiful.

The team at Oriental Orchid’s helped us get the orchid’s we needed and searched all over their greenhouses to find us the perfect stems.

Sarah and her new Goat

Every single day, we design and create flowers for our customer’s who want to cheer someone up, it’s a cool feeling to be a part of that act of kindness.

Yesterday, the winner of our Blabla doll contest came to claim her prize and just look at her smile!

Have a super weekend!

Thanks to our Vets

Posted November 5th, 2009 by Caley

Poppy

On behalf of the team at Garden Party Flowers, thank you for the sacrifices and achievements of those who have served in the cause of peace and freedom around the world over the years.

Visiting the actual battlefields and memorials in Europe, especially visiting Vimy Ridge made me very proud to be a Canadian. I met a group French veterans at the memorial and once they learned that I was a Canadian, they immediately showed me genuine gratitude and became excited to tell me their experiences.  Here are a few of my personal pictures I took at a battlefield in Ypres, Belgium.
