10-10-10. A lucky date! In the Chinese city of Changchun alone, 1,917 couples were married, and traffic was congested due to the over 10,000 cars hired for the use of these marrying couples!

We at Garden Party we’re also very busy designing and decorating the Shangri-La Hotel (pictured above) in downtown Vancouver for a very special and romantic wedding. The weather was absolutely perfect at a balmy 18C as the day before and day after the wedding was raining heavily all day long.

Our bride Meggie was really into a pink and purple theme, so we designed for her this beautiful bridal bouquet which consisted of lavender roses, pink calla lilies, and pink cymbidium orchids from New Zealand.

Her bridesmaids bouquets were designed with lavender roses and picasso calla’s.

We followed the pink and purple theme with these beautiful centrepeices for the Conway Room.

The beautiful ceremony standards were designed with purple and green hydrangea’s, lavendar roses, white lilies, dendrobium orchids and purple phalaenopsis orchids.

When guests entered the reception area, they were greeted by this romantic signing table. The signing table was designed with a grouping of purple flowers. The tallest vase was designed with lavendar roses, the medium height vase was designed with rare purple tulips for this time of year and the cute short vase was designed with hydrangea, all surrounded by rose petals.

Staff at the Shangri La were so professional and helped to make this day memorable for all involved!

IZAKAYA x Garden Party

Staff Party at Guu

When not at our boutique designing floral arrangements or on site to decorate special events, we can typically be found at one of the many massively popular izakaya restaurants in downtown Vancouver. There is nothing better then fresh, yummy plates of Japanese cuisine and mega Sapporo beer’s surrounded by funky flowers.

Below is a list of our favourite Ikakaya spots who we also design beautiful flower arrangements for. Each week we design a new theme and concept for each establishment. Izakaya Oishee!

Vancouver International Film Festival Opening Gala Photos

Posted October 1st, 2010 by Caley

If you’ve been following our blog for the past while, you’ve seen many floral centerpieces we’ve designed for our client the Vancouver International Film Centre.

Every event has a theme and so did last night’s big bash. The colour theme for the Opening Gala at the Rocky Mountaineer Station was this Van Gogh painting.

From this painting we designed an over 24 cocktail centerpieces using bright high and magic roses, sunflowers, dahlia’s and Chinese lanterns.

For the red carpet entrance, guests were greeted by a huge VIFF poster and elegant floral standards on each side.

After enjoying the view, the fresh scents and getting pictures taken, guests are then treated to a feast of food and drinks.
