We were at the Sutton Hotel many times this past weekend to transform this stunning venue from a Purple Themed Wedding on Saturday to a Great Gatsby themed wedding on Sunday.

Both weddings were elegant, classy and great fun to be a part of.

There were many elements the bride and groom put much thought into, to achieve this roaring twenties look and feel. From antique typewriters, custom art deco signage on each room, lots of feathers, to the dress code of everyone attending, we were quite impressed by all the details.

The bridal bouquet matched the ceremony standard arrangements, as it was designed with hard to get coral peonies, pink peonies, viburnum, orchids and lamb’s ear.

This purple themed wedding was complimented by pops of yellow freesia, yellow rananuculus, yellow tulips and yellow scabiosa. The beautiful Versailles Room at the Sutton Hotel also helped to compliment the flowers.

Guests were first greeted by the purple theme once they arrived at the guest signing table.

Entering the reception room, the purple theme continued with the centrepieces, the head table arrangements and the large pillar arrangements.

The TEDx organizers asked us to help them decorate UBC Robson Square with inspiration from Stanley Park. With the help of Greenscape Decor, we brought in a forest of tree’s, birch containers, flowers, foliage and floral designs with an organic style.

Getting married in Vancouver during anytime of the year requires a bit of backup planning should rain start falling. This is especially true for weddings in January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August 1-3 and 5 – 31st, September, October, November and December. Last Saturday, the morning started off with our delivery van wipers at full blast. However, by the time our bride and groom were getting ready to arrive at the ceremony, the glorious sunshine came through and lit up beautiful stained glass at the West Point Grey United Church.

The reception was held at Cecil Green in UBC, where the blue theme continued from the chair covers to the flowers.

The bridal bouquet was designed with blue hydrangea, cream roses, viburnum, ranunculus, lisianthus, and blue delphinium.

The bridesmaids bouquets complimented the bridal bouquet with green roses, tulips, lisianthus and blue hydrangea.

Which type of vintage and rustic do you like??

After a workshop with florists supply 2 years ago, I was introduced to the idea of “Ombré” inspired arrangements. I began to love the beauty of ingredients from the lightest hue to the darkest hue or from the darkest colour slowly shifting to the lightest colour.

Green theme

Earlier this year, I was inspired by the colour of the year – Emerald Green and designed an ombré arrangement with eucalyptus, green cymbidium orchids, roses, dendrobium, hypericums, and green tricks.

Red and pink theme

Red roses are popular for Valentine’s day. We can make it more fun by designing an ombre arrangement with red, hot pink, and soft pink. Therefore, it’s not traditional at all.

Purple and cream theme

This arrangement was designed for someone very very special when she held a concert in Vancouver. We designed it with dark calla lilies, purple ocean song roses, white ohara garden roses, brunia and seeded eucalyptus.

Tulips, roses, orchids, freesia, and lisianthus are fun to design with as well.

Peach and cream theme

Juliet Garden roses are so pretty that they are very popular for wedding floral design. I designed this peach and cream ombre arrangement with Vercilia roses, Juliet garden roses, faith roses, vandella roses, and white hydrangea.

When should I order?
For the past several years, we’ve sold out of flowers before the end of the day on Valentine’s Day and usually stop accepting online and phone orders by the afternoon of February 13. Ordering before February 12th will guarantee we can design beautiful flowers for you.

Can you make a custom floral design?
That’s our speciality! We suggest finding out your partner’s favourite flower or colour. Don’t know their favourite flower or colour? Don’t worry, just let us know her style, is her home stark and modern? We can design a custom bouquet or arrangement to give it a personal touch.

What is your best seller during Valentine’s Day?
Every year, we create new designs for our Valentine’s collection. The most popular is always a dozen or more classic red roses. These are premium long stem roses from the best rose growers in the world.

What do you recommend if I want to go BIG?
Deliver flowers to your partner regularly. We can deliver beautiful fresh flowers to your partner every week, every month, or every few months. Consider pre-booking a monthly flower order every 14th of the month until the end of the year. If you want to make your Valentine’s Day order especially memorable, include a box of handmade beta5 chocolates, handmade gluten free macarons, or a bottle of wine.

Do you deliver outside of Vancouver?
Yes! We deliver to Burnaby, Richmond, North Vancouver and West Vancouver. For all other areas, please call and we can let you know if we will be able to deliver flowers there.

Working with Natalie from Zola Blue Wedding and Events, decorating the Terminal City Club was one of the last projects we worked on in 2012.

The bridal bouquet, bridesmaids bouquets, boutonnières, corsages and centrepieces were all designed with crimson red roses, complimented by either lamps ear, brunia or evergreens. When surrounded by all the florals, beautiful tablescapes, elegant Christmas trees and wreaths, we felt there was no better place to be during the holiday season.
