Job Title: Part-Time Floral Design Studio Assistant

Location: Garden Party Flowers Inc., Vancouver, BC

Job Type: Part-Time (Monday & Tuesday; possible Fridays during busy seasons)

Salary: $20/hour

About Us:
Garden Party Flowers Inc. is a premier floral design studio specializing in weddings, events, and luxury floral arrangements. Our mission is to create breathtaking floral designs while providing exceptional service to our clients and building lasting relationships with them. We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Floral Design Studio Assistant to support our daily operations and maintain the beauty and efficiency of our studio.

Responsibilities:

Order Fulfillment & Processing:

• Fulfill daily delivery orders once completed.
• Process incoming orders following the studio’s standard procedures.
• Design same-day floral orders under $100 within the allotted time (training provided).
• Design next-day floral orders over $100 within the allotted time (training provided).

Floral Processing & Maintenance:

• Receive and process flower shipments, ensuring quality control and proper conditioning.
• Maintain the floral cooler by sweeping, removing empty vases, changing water, recutting stems, and performing a weekly deep clean with disinfectant.

Studio Cleanliness & Organization:

• Keep the studio clean and organized, including taking out garbage and recycling, replenishing inventory, sweeping, and emptying compost bins.
• Clean and prepare vases for reuse.

Continuous Learning & Improvement:

• Engage in process improvement activities to enhance efficiency and quality.
• Participate in a monthly performance review/check-in discussion with the team.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a floral studio or similar creative environment is an asset.
• Passion for flowers and floral design.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently under time constraints and with little guidance or supervision.
• Ability to lift and carry flower buckets and vases as needed.
• Self-motivated and able to take initiative in maintaining studio cleanliness and organization.
• Comfortable using technology, including Shopify for order processing.
• Driver’s License required

Job Overview

We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Floral Design Freelancer to assist with floral arrangements for weddings, corporate events, hotel installations, and luxury retail displays. This role is ideal for someone with a strong floral design background who enjoys working on diverse projects in a dynamic and artistic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and assemble floral arrangements for weddings, events, and luxury retail clients.
• Assist with on-site installations, including hotel and corporate floral decor.
• Assist the team in conditioning and processing flowers to ensure optimal freshness and longevity.
• Collaborate with the Lead Floral Designer to bring creative floral concepts to life.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all tools and materials are properly handled.
• Work efficiently to meet tight deadlines, particularly during peak event seasons.

Requirements

• Proven experience in floral design, with a portfolio showcasing past work (min 3 years).
• Strong knowledge of flower care, handling, and preservation techniques.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with large-scale floral installations and event decor.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to meet project deadlines.
• Flexible availability, including weekends and evenings, based on project needs.
• Physical ability to lift and transport floral arrangements and supplies.
• Access to reliable transportation for on-site work when required.
• Must have a driver's license.
