We’re proud to be a sponsor of the upcoming Queer Arts Festival kicking off in Vancouver June 17. The Queer Arts Festival (QAF) is an annual artist-run trans disciplinary art festival. The theme for QAF 2023 is Queers in Space. The festival features a curated visual art exhibition, performing art series, workshops, artist talks, panels, and media art screenings over 11 days at various venues around Vancouver. On the Queers in Space theme, the QAF website share that, “futurism and fantasy have always been cornerstones of the 2SLGBTQIA+ experience.” Our florals team loves that this theme encourages dreaming, playing and taking the space we deserve, things we encourage. 

Garden Party Flowers is passionate about supporting the LGBTQIA2S+ community. We have many queer folks in our community of staff, partners and clients. Throughout pride month and all year round we celebrate the voices, talents, weddings and special occasions of all gender identities and sexual orientations. Love is love and everyone is welcome at Garden Party Flowers. 

As a floral studio, we feel very aligned with the arts community and see ourselves as floral artists. We love channeling creativity into our arrangements and taking inspiration from music, contemporary art and old Dutch masters paintings. We are continually inspired by modern and traditional art, incorporating colours and designs into our floral arrangements and bouquets.  

Additionally, we adore community. Our diverse and colourful community is what makes Vancouver such an incredible place for our studio to call home. Supporting community festivals, events that support marginalized communities and not-for-profit organisations are cornerstones of our business and something we value deeply. 

Our sponsorship of the Queer Arts Festival will involve creating bouquets to thank and recognize performers and other members of the organisation. The theme Queers in Space gives us the opportunity to play with colours, textures and dimensions in our designs. This event brings diverse personalities and communities together to support art, risk-taking, creative collaboration and experimentation. We are thrilled to be involved and excited to see what our designers create with this inspiration. We look forward to celebrating and sharing our talents with Vancouver’s finest queer artists and works of art.
